ZOO CAMPS

F.A.W.N. - First Adventures With Nature
Children ages 2 - 5 with one adult
Thursdays and Saturdays 10:00 am to 11:30 am
$10 for the first child and adult
$5 for each additional adult
$5 for each additional child aged 2-5 yrs.


This one and a half hour camp allows parents and children aged 2 -5 years to experience nature and wildlife through animal presentations, guided walks, games, crafts, scavenger hunts, carousel rides, puppet shows and so much more.  F.A.W.N. camps are an excellent way to increase your young child’s awareness of the natural world around them. Punch Card Savings
We are offering a cost saving option for those interested in participating in several programs.  The Zoo offers a punch card that can be used for 10 sessions from November 2016 - April 2017 for $90.  1 punch = 1 adult/child pair.  Additional punches can be used for additional participants.  If this is something you are interested in doing, please contact Amy Wesner so payment can be set up for you!

Feline Frenzy
Lions, Tigers and Bobcats…Oh My!  Roaring cats, purring cats, sleepy cats and hungry cats. In this camp we will learn about cats of all sizes through stories, crafts, games and activities, plus a trip to the carousel for one wild ride!

Perfect Pairs
Sometimes it’s just meant to be!  Come out to Binder Park Zoo as we discover some of the most unusual animal friendships and learn about teamwork.  Through stories, activities, games and live animal encounters participants will be able to explore what makes opposites attract in the animal kingdom.

Terrific Turkeys
Wattle on down for a fun time as we learn about wild turkeys!  Did you know a male turkey is called a “Tom”?  Or that female turkeys do not say “Gobble, Gobble”?  Through songs, crafts, bio-facts and a nature walk, participants will discover many other turkey facts just in time for Thanksgiving.

Sleeping Bears
It’s nap time in the bear den!  Over at Binder Park Zoo we will be exploring why animals hibernate in the winter.   While learning what it takes to prepare for a long winter slumber, we will sing songs, make crafts, meet live animals and take a stroll down to check in on the bears.

Carousel Critters
Join us for an all-around great time this week as we explore the different animals on the Binda Conservation Carousel!  There will be games, songs, stories and crafts that focus on ways to help conserve the world around us….and….this camp wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Carousel for a ride or two!

Reindeer Games
Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen! On Comet! On Cupid! On Donner and Blizten!  Head out for some Holiday fun as we discover the animal athletes of the world.  We’ll run, jump, race and play, meet a live animal and look for Santa’s sleigh!

Winter Wonderland
Come out to Binder Park Zoo and discover the marvelous world of snow as we search for animals that love cold weather!  We’ll go walking in a winter wonderland and stop at the Carousel along the way.  Participants can explore everything winter has to offer through songs, games, activities, and much more.

Follow those Tracks
Calling all nature detectives!  We’re on the hunt for animal clues!  This camp is all about finding evidence of animals in their natural settings.  Through songs, games, crafts and more, participants will learn about animal footprints!  Don’t forget your nature goggles; we’ll go outside to see what animal tracks we can uncover!

Under the Sea
Bring your sea legs and get ready for a magical underwater adventure!   Let’s go snorkeling to look at coral reefs, sea turtles and fish.  After that we can head out on the whale watching boat to see if we can spot some ocean mammals!  Through stories, games, activities and a live animal encounter, campers will get a fun filled look into the world’s oceans and the animals that live in them.

Globe Trotters
Let’s take a trip around the world, from the Amazon Rainforest in South America to the outback of Australia; every stop along the way is a new adventure.  We will explore the world’s continents and the animals that call them home through songs, stories, play time, a guided walk and animal encounters. Get out your passports and prepare to trek the globe in search of amazing places!

Nighttime Prowlers
Don’t forget your night vision goggles; in this camp we will expose the secrets of Michigan’s most elusive hunters.  Through games, stories, crafts and activities participants will get a chance to see what it’s like to be a nocturnal animal!

Hide and Seek
Cover your eyes and count to ten; we’re looking for animals that like to blend in!  This camp will focus on animals that use camouflage to hide from danger.   We’ll play games, sing songs, meet a live animal and go on a nature walk to see what else we can find!

Fabulous Flights
Test out your wings and fly on down to Binder Park Zoo!  We’re learning all about the animals in the sky!  Through stories, songs, crafts and more, we’ll learn how animals use their wings to soar!  Grab your bird watching guide it’s bound to be a wild time!

Animal Babies
Spring is just around the corner and you know what that means….Baby Animals!  This camp focuses on many different baby animals and their parents.  We’ll learn what to call a baby seal or a baby rhinoceros!  Plus, we’ll meet a live animal up close and go on a nature walk!

Mystery Week
Join us for a mystery adventure!  Through stories, games, crafts and a live animal encounter, participants will learn about some of the most mysterious creatures on the planet.  You won’t want to miss out; there are plenty of unusual things worth learning about!

Jr. Zoo Doctors
Ever wonder who takes care of the animals when they are sick or injured?  Here at Binder Park Zoo we have our own team of Veterinary Professionals that care for the tiniest frog to the tallest giraffe! Join us for games, activities, crafts and so much more as we explore the wonderful world of Exotic Animal Veterinary Medicine!

Camp Enrollment Policy:

  • Pre-registration is required.
  • Registrations will be accepted by mail, fax or online. No phone registrations accepted.
  • Registrations must be received no later than the Thursday before the 1st day of camp.
  • No “day before” registrations accepted; "day of" registrations available by chance.
  • Programs run rain or shine.
  • We reserve the right to refuse enrollment to anyone or dismiss without refund any student for behavioral issues.

Camp Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be received by mail, fax or email only; voicemail will not be accepted.

  • Up to 5 Business Days Prior: 50% will be refunded or you may move to another camp and pay a $10 transfer fee.
  • 0-4 Days Prior: No refund; must re-register for another camp and pay full amount
  • Full refunds are only issued when BPZ cancels a camp due to low enrollment or extenuating circumstances
  • There is a $10 processing fee to transfer participants from one camp to another
