Guest Services
Admissions – Front line customer service and sales, greeting guests and sending them on their way to a great day! Candidate must enjoy interacting with people and have a great smile. Computer skills or willing to learn, strong cash handling skills, data entry, is able to multitask and have a willingness to stay informed of Binder Park Zoo events and happenings. 

Membership Associate – Front line customer service and ambassador for the zoo as well as our community.  Duties include soliciting new and renewing Binder Park Zoo memberships, imputing data, and sales.  Candidate must be customer oriented, outgoing and be able to convey genuine hospitality toward guests. Basic computer and cash handling skills needed.

Twiga – Front line customer service will learn about the African Savanna animals and be in direct contact with a variety of guests of all ages and the giraffe coming directly to the deck. This is the most popular and exciting exhibit at Binder Park Zoo. Candidate must be customer oriented and be able to evenly and effectively communicate safety and security for both visitors and our savanna animals. Basic cash handling skills needed.

Face Painting – Must love to work with children who wiggle and parents who ask questions, have an interest in art, positive attitude, be outgoing and meet sales goals. Candidate does not necessarily have to be artistic but it helps. It is a learned process and if you like art, can draw a little, color inside the lines, this may be the job for you. Basic manual register and cash handling skills needed.

Receptionist – Candidate must be able to greet guests via telephone as an ambassador for the zoo, learn basic cash handling skills, be able to multitask, have a willingness to stay informed of Binder Park Zoo events and happenings. Duties include answering and directing telephone calls using a multi-line phone system, relating positively with diverse groups of people (guests, staff and volunteers), basic computer knowledge needed, assisting with clerical projects as assigned and complying with all Binder Park Zoo policies and procedures.

Cash Room Attendant Candidate must have excellent cash handling and math skills and comply with zoo cash handling and security procedures. Have basic MS Excel and computer knowledge with attention to details and procedures. Count and record daily revenue from all areas of the zoo, reset and replenish cash supply bags on schedule.

Transportation
Tram Driver  Requirements include a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, be a conscientious driver, follow written procedures keeping in mind our guests’ safety is your responsibility, must be at least 21 years of age, help load and unload wheelchairs, strollers and assist guests, and have exceptional customer service skills. Candidate must be able to enforce guidelines for guests with grace and tact.

Carousel Operator Driver’s license not required, applicant must be at least 18 years of age, able to pleasantly interact with guests at any given time while enforcing guidelines for guests, follow all written procedures keeping in mind our guests’ safety is your responsibility, assist guests embarking and disembarking as needed, load and unload wheelchairs and follow all cash handling procedures.

Train Operator Requirements include a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, be a conscientious driver, follow all written maintenance and guest services procedures keeping in mind our guests’ safety is your responsibility, must be at least 21 years of age, help load and unload wheelchairs and assist guests as needed, able to pleasantly interact with guests at any given time while enforcing guidelines for guests and follow all cash handling procedures.

Field Services
Field Services Attendants – Candidate must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, follow written procedures keeping in mind our guests’ safety is your responsibility. Must be self-motivated and work independently, detail and customer oriented, enjoy working outdoors and be able to adapt to ever changing work assignments. Candidate must be able to walk, bend and lift continuously, must be at least 18 years of age and be able and willing to pleasantly interact with guests at any given time.

Current Binder Park Zoo Internships

Binder Park Zoo is currently seeking interns in the following areas. Please submit a Binder Park Zoo Internship Application to be considered. Please note: these positions are unpaid.

Animal Care Intern: Assist zoo staff in the daily care of animals and exhibits, record keeping, and interacting with zoo guests. Experiences working with a variety of animals as you rotate through the different keeper areas.

Education Intern: Assist with all aspects of education programming including overnights, camps, outreach, stage shows and more.  Interns will also receive animal handling training and be given the opportunity to present live animals to groups of various ages and sizes.  Applicants must be energetic, friendly, outgoing and enjoy guest interaction.

Special Events Intern: To assist the Zoo in accomplishing its mission while assisting with all aspects of the zoo’s event schedule. Learn more here.

Graphics Intern: Assist with creating and maintaining on-grounds graphics and marketing materials including props, signage, banners, sculptures, etc. Learn more here.

Interns must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays in all weather conditions and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Internships are available year-round but responsibility descriptions may vary depending on the season/semester. Learn more here.
