Admissions

Candidate must be personable, outgoing and enjoy interacting with people. You’re the first impression of the zoo and will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests. Individuals will be responsible for directing and processing guests through entrance in a safe, friendly and efficient manner. Individuals are also responsible for providing general information on Binder Park Zoo and our events. The successful candidate will possess basic computer and data entry skills and knowledge of cash handling.

Membership Associate

Candidate must be personable, outgoing and enjoy interacting with people. As a member of the front line customer service team, you’re an ambassador for the zoo and our community and will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests. Individuals will be responsible for soliciting Binder Park Zoo memberships by providing insight and information into the advantages of being a zoo member. Individuals will also be responsible for assisting members with membership renewals, and providing general information on Binder Park Zoo and our events. The successful candidate will possess basic computer and data entry skills and knowledge of cash handling.

Receptionist

Candidate must be personable and enjoy interacting with people. Individuals will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests while answering and directing calls using a multi-line phone system. Individuals are responsible for providing general information on Binder Park Zoo and our events. Individuals will also be responsible for assisting in membership sales and clerical duties as assigned. The successful candidate will possess basic computer and data entry skills.

Cash Office Attendant

Candidate must have excellent cash handling, math, and problem-solving skills. If you have a strong attention to detail and enjoy troubleshooting this may be the job for you. Individuals are responsible for counting, recording and replenishment of daily revenue from all areas of the zoo, as well as data entry of statistical and financial information. Individuals are expected comply with zoo cash handling and security procedures. The successful candidate will possess basic MS Excel and computer knowledge. Familiarity with cash handling procedures preferred.

Security Coordinator

Candidate must be personable and enjoy interacting with people. Individuals will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests, sometimes in stressful situations. Individuals will assist with security in situations such as medical and natural emergency procedures, and preparedness. The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills. Must have the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks as necessary. Prior emergency responder and safety experience preferred.

FIELD SERVICES

Field Services Attendant

Candidate must be personable and enjoy interacting with people. Individuals will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests while working outdoors in all weather conditions. If you’re a detail-oriented, self-starter with a love of cleaning and organization this may be the perfect job for you. Individuals will perform duties to maintain the cleanliness of the zoo (i.e. vacuuming, mopping, trash and restrooms). The successful candidate must be able to adapt to ever-changing work assignments and follow all written procedures. The successful candidate must be able to walk, bend and lift continuously. This job requires candidates to be at least 18 years of age.

Seasonal Food Service

Candidate must be personable, outgoing and enjoy interacting with people. Candidates will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests and assist with their needs. Candidates with previous Food Service experience welcome but not needed. Individuals will also be responsible for providing general information on Binder Park Zoo and our events. The successful candidate will possess basic knowledge of cash handling. We have several positions that require the candidate to be 18 years or older. Some positions may require ServSafe or TIPS Certification.

TRANSPORTATION

Tram Driver

Candidate must be personable and enjoy interacting with people. Individuals will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests while maintaining guest safety as the top priority. Individuals will assist guests while they embark and disembark the tram and will be responsible for loading and unloading wheelchairs and strollers. The successful candidate must be able to enforce safety guidelines with grace and tact, follow all written procedures and identify vehicle-related issues. This job requires candidates be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.

Internship Opportunities

Animal Care Intern

Assist zoo staff in the daily care of animals and exhibits, record keeping, and interacting with zoo guests. Experiences working with a variety of animals as you rotate through the different keeper areas.

Education Intern

Assist with all aspects of education programming including overnights, camps, outreach, stage shows and more.  Interns will also receive animal handling training and be given the opportunity to present live animals to groups of various ages and sizes.  Applicants must be energetic, friendly, outgoing and enjoy guest interaction.

Interns must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays in all weather conditions and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Internships are available year-round but responsibility descriptions may vary depending on the season/semester.
