Provide zoo guests with the best experience possible and assist Guest Services Coordinators and Managers with daily operations and customer service.

Admissions

Front line customer service, sales, and guests greeter. Candidate must enjoy interacting with people and provide detailed information about the zoo. Computer skills or willing to learn, strong cash handling skills, data entry, ability to multitask and to stay informed of Binder Park Zoo events and happenings.

 

Membership Associate

Front line customer service and ambassador for the zoo as well as our community. Duties include soliciting new and renewing Binder Park Zoo memberships, imputing data, and sales. Candidate must be customer oriented, outgoing and be able to convey genuine hospitality toward guests. Basic computer and cash handling skills needed.

 

Face Painter

Must love to work with children who wiggle and parents who ask questions. Successful candidates will have an interest in art, a positive attitude, be outgoing and meet sales goals. Candidate does not necessarily have to be artistic but this skill is helpful. If you like art, can draw a little, color inside the lines, this may be the job for you. Basic manual register and cash handling skills needed.

 

Receptionist

Candidate must be able to greet guests via telephone or in person as an ambassador for the zoo, knowledge of basic cash handling skills, multitask, willingness to stay informed of Binder Park Zoo events and happenings. Duties include answering and directing telephone calls using a multi-line phone system, relating positively with diverse groups of people (guests, staff and volunteers), basic computer knowledge needed (i.e. MS Word, Excel), assist with clerical projects as assigned and comply with all Binder Park Zoo policies and procedures.

Cash Room Attendant

Candidate must have excellent cash handling, math, and problem-solving skills and comply with zoo cash handling and security procedures. Basic MS Excel and computer knowledge required with attention to details and procedures. This position includes counting, recording and replenishing daily revenue from all areas of the zoo as well as data entry of statistical and financial information. Successful candidates will have a sense for troubleshooting and correcting discrepancies.

Guest Relations Coordinator

Candidate must provide exceptional customer service to guests and assist in security, emergency procedures, and staff emergency preparedness. Prior emergency responder and safety experience preferred. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must. Have the ability to work independently and be able to handle multiple tasks as necessary.

FIELD SERVICES

Field Services Attendants

Candidate must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions performing duties to maintain the cleanliness of the zoo. Must be able to follow written procedures, be self-motivated, and work independently. Candidate must pay attention to details and be customer focused, must also be able to adapt to ever-changing work assignments. Candidate must be able to walk, bend and lift continuously, must be 18 years of age and be able and willing to pleasantly interact with guests at any given time.

TRANSPORTATION

Tram Driver

Requirements include a valid driver’s license with a clear driving record; must be 21 years of age. Successful candidates will be conscientious drivers, follow all written procedures while keeping in mind guest safety is the main responsibility. Help load and unload wheelchairs, strollers and assist guests while providing exceptional customer service. Candidate must be able to enforce safety guidelines for guests with grace and tact.

Carousel Operator

Driver’s license not required but applicants must be 18 years of age. Successful candidates must be able to pleasantly interact with guests at any given time while enforcing safety guidelines. Operators will follow all written procedures while keeping in mind guest safety is the main responsibility. Assist guests embark and disembark as needed, load and unload wheelchairs and follow all cash handling procedures.

Education

Education Interpreter

To assist the zoo fulfill its’ mission helping spread the joy of learning by running Day Camps, leading Overnights, interacting with zoo guests at animal exhibits, and assisting with other tasks and programs as needed.

Service Systems Associates Opportunities

Concessions

We are looking for energetic, outgoing team members to work at our food stands, carts, and catering events.  Concessions/Food Service team members should have excellent teamwork, communication, guest service skills and be able to work in fast paced environments.  You may work in multiple locations, handling a variety of duties including interacting with guests, cooking, preparing food, cleaning and cash handling.  Your position and location may vary daily and may include working in an outdoor location.  Food service, guest service and cash handling experience is a plus, but is not required.

 

Retail

We are looking for high energy, outgoing, friendly team members to join our retail team.  Retail/Gift Shop associates must have a friendly, guest service oriented mindset as you will interact directly with our guests daily.  Inventory, loss prevention, sales, cash handling and amazing guest service are all necessary skills for our gift shop associates.  Prior experience is a plus, but not required.

 

Internship Opportunities

Animal Care Intern

Assist zoo staff in the daily care of animals and exhibits, record keeping, and interacting with zoo guests. Experiences working with a variety of animals as you rotate through the different keeper areas.

Education Intern

Assist with all aspects of education programming including overnights, camps, outreach, stage shows and more.  Interns will also receive animal handling training and be given the opportunity to present live animals to groups of various ages and sizes.  Applicants must be energetic, friendly, outgoing and enjoy guest interaction.

Interns must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays in all weather conditions and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Internships are available year-round but responsibility descriptions may vary depending on the season/semester.
